The Trail will be officially open October 18, so please stop by any of the five businesses to pick up your passport, then get stamps from all of us to be entered in a drawing. I hope we have nice weather for “hiking” the trail.
Thanks to Peggy who has been masterfully tending the barrels out front of the tasting room, and imagine my surprise when I arrived to find a bale of hay and some pumpkins! I added some fall color inside too, and it feels festive. And removal of that horrible brown eyesore building next door really opens things up.
We are down to less than two cases of Moose Canyon 2016 Merlot, so that will likely sell out this weekend, leaving us just the 2016 Meritage and the two Sisters Rule wines. Just in time, because we will release the 2017 Malbec and the Cabernet Franc on October 17, as well as Sisters Rule Chardonnay, so we will be pouring six wines starting October 17 and for people doing the Trail.
We will also start serving an appetizer plate this month, it is perfect for two people: Water crackers, merlot cheese spread, ghirardelli chocolate, and choice of sausage or salmon spread.
After much struggling with the whole concept of tasting fees, I have finally decided to have a $5/person tasting fee for six wines, which is waived with a $20 purchase. Compared to other tasting rooms it is still modest, but mostly covers my costs and as a new business I truly hope that people will understand.
I have plans to get a smart screen to hang on the wall, and show a stream of photos. If you have some great pictures from our winery, tasting room, or wine making process, please feel free to send them to me.
Final grapes of the season arrival date is Tuesday, October 15th. Crazy time of year!
